Tiles for The Cottage
Let’s take a look at our luxury chalet bungalow first!
For the floor tiles (sitting on top of warm underfloor heating), we wanted to have something light, simple & in large 600x600 format. This would help increase the feeling of spaciousness & light, especially when laid against the wall tiles we had chosen.
Between the floor tiles we chose a light-to-mid grey grout, something that would harmonise with the tiles, and keep the lines in the floor feeling muted and understated.
For the walls we wanted to add a pop of drama and colour opting for a dark blue brick tile, laid in the herringbone format. These tiles are not just blue though! They have a gorgeous subtle patina to them which shows off the different rich tones of blue through the tile!
Light grey grout is being used in between the wall tiles too, not too stark like white would be, but still a great contrast to the deep blue!
Along any edges we have used matt black trims to finish the areas of tiles, complementing all of the brassware in the bathroom & en-suite!
Tiles for The Lodge
What about The Lodge? With one main bathroom, two en-suites & a WC, there are many opportunities for tiles to elevate the space in The Lodge.
We chose to use the same floor tiles as we had done in The Cottage within The Lodge, emphasising the feeling of spaciousness & ensuring the rooms feel light.
In contrast to The Cottage though, the wall tiles are a light, warm grey brick tile. These are also laid in herringbones format, but the various warm greys & hints of beige throughout the tiles will give the walls of the bathroom and en-suites a very detailed & interesting finish.
A light grey grout is being used in The Lodge as well, providing a subtle finish between the brick tiles.
The trims are matt black again, but this time they will provide a crisp & stark contrast for the edge of tiled areas.
Areas for Tiling
Where have we chosen to tile within the bathrooms & en-suites?
High-moisture areas are obvious choices when it comes to tiling, and we have been careful to tile in places where the double-ended baths are fitted against, along with inside shower enclosures or the magnificent back wall of the walk in wet-room shower in The Cottage en-suite.
We’ve also tiled splashbacks behind the basins & taps, as well as the areas where the toilet goes in most rooms.
To keep each room feeling warm & inviting, we opted not to tile the entire walls everywhere. This can often look cold & clinical if not careful! But of course, the underfloor heating and the heated towel rails will help too!
