K&T @ KBB - What we Loved
After a few years of the KBB event not being possible to attend due to global circumstances, we were so excited to see what was on offer at the 2022 show in the NEC at Birmingham!
KBB is an amazing opportunity to see new innovations within the kitchen, bathroom & bedroom industry, along with making connections with new brands, seeing some familiar faces & companies, and learning about new technology.
This year did not disappoint! Here’s what our Designer, Kim & our Business Executive, Laura, thought to the event…
Why not also check out our recent reel over on Instagram? follow us around the KBB event and catch some glimpses of the luxury products we loved!
Let’s start with the kitchens!
One of the first things we noticed this year was the many natural, earthy & warm tones throughout the kitchen brands. From fiery oranges & rusts to deep & elegant timbers, we loved the way the kitchens blended amazing functionality & modern storage solutions with the earthy tones. We also saw a few dark mossy greens in the painted kitchens that looked striking but calming & rich, compared to the racing greens we’ve seen in the past few years.
The textured timber finishes were opulent, especially when mixed with metallic handles… Italian brand Scavolini had a handle that had been routed out of the top or sides of the doors, adding a hefty industrial feel to the natural wood-effect finishes. Styled with open metal shelves suspended above the worktops, along with many innovative storage space-saving solutions (slide & hide doors for both kitchen & office spaces… yum!), we gained lots of inspiration for how to turn a simple space into a very usable area. Definitely take a look at our video over on instagram for more of this!
Speaking of suspended shelving – which has become more popular in kitchen spaces over the past year or so – Elica had a gorgeous extractor-come-shelving system that provided open storage & ventilation. Usable over an island & fixed to a wall, we’ll be looking to slip one of these into our homes in the future, I’m sure!
What about bathrooms?
we’re very happy to say that the matt black & brass finish brassware are still a thing! More brands are bringing their own versions to the market, with both industrial & traditional styles spotted at KBB.
We talked with new brand – The House of Rohl – a blend of Shaws, Victoria & Albert, Perrin & Rowe and Roibl. Gorgeous designer roll-top & modern freestanding baths were all around the stand, mixed with timber screening & matt black chunky taps. Victoria & Albert have designed a selection of vessel basins with colour finishes on the outside – perfect for adding a pop of unique colour to your bathroom…
That was one of the main themes throughout the bathroom brands that we noticed: the introduction of colour. So many sanitaryware products had pops of soft pinks, calming blues or dramatic blacks & greys. We even saw a couple of black toilets to complement the black shower enclosures…
Its nice to see colour being reintroduced into bathroom & kitchen design after many years of greys, whites & neutrals and we cannot wait to see what designs we can create for our upcoming projects…
We’ll be sharing more about these big & exciting projects soon, so be sure to sign up to our newsletter for first access to these updates!
